Compressors: Infinitely Variable Compressors (IVC) What is DDMotion IVC: Customized IVMC for compressor application Compressors for refrigerators and air-conditioners are controlling the pressure and flow rate of refrigerant to provide needed temperature. There are two type of concepts for the control: (1) regulating the compressor pump ON and OFF and (2) controlling the pump speed. The first technique requires a big motor to overcome the static back pressure during the re-starts. The energy efficiency is low and cost is high. The second concept can be accomplished either electronically or mechanically. Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) are an electronic solution but are costly and have limitations. DDMotion’s concept is a mechanical. How IVG works: IVG converts constant motor speed to variable from the minimum output of zero to maximum without power interruptions. The result is a continuous operation without restarts: therefore, the motor size can be reduced.
